All Out approaches on September 4, and AEW rolls through Minneapolis for a special “Quake By The Lake” episode of Dynamite headlined by a star-studded main event for the AEW Interim World Championship, with Jon Moxley defending against Chris Jericho.
Will Jericho be able to recapture the world title in AEW? Will the heel Moxley keep his dragon closer than the golden child on the rise?
Darby Allin vs Brody King
The opening match of the night was a rare “Coffin match” between Darby Allin and Brody King.
Allin knew the game plan from the start and broke his opponent open with a set of thumbtacks in the beginning.
However, overbearing babyfaces often get in the way of successful moves, and this was the case in their match with King.
Result: Allin defeated King
Lucha Bros vs Rush and Andrade El Idolo; Luchasaurus in Action
After weeks of the Lucha Bros eluding capture, Andrade El Idolo and Rush defeated Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix in a hotly contested Tornado Tag Team match. At the end of the contest, Penta unmasked himself, which allowed Andrade El Idolo and Rush to defeat them.
With his mask tied to the ropes, the elder brother sacrificed it to break up a pin and preserve the victory for a moment. Rush and El Idolo sent him to the floor, leaving Fenix to endure the Bull’s Horns from the former and a hammerlock DDT from the latter as the heels earned the victory.
Result: Rush and El Idolo defeated Lucha Bros
Wardlow Has 7-Star Backup Ricky Starks vs Aaron Solow
Jay Lethal, Satnam Singh and Sonjay Dutt hit the ring and then they had a promo talking about how they were beaten up by Luke Bravo (TNT Champion), Cade Sydal, Angelo Dawkins and Hercules Hernandez.
One War Dog interrupted, backed up by various champions in Ring of Honor, IWGP and AAA- their tag team titles.
Although the Babyfaces continue to make their presence felt in a rivalry with Edge, Matt and Jeff Hardy, this fight would still be seen as a step down for all three men no matter who wins. The Babyfaces have received more TV time in recent weeks, but that doesn’t mean they’re any closer to their ultimate goal of claiming the tag straps.
Result: Starks defeated Solow
Madison Rayne vs Jade Cargill
For seventeen years, Madison Rayne has been a professional wrestler. After defeating pro wrestler Jade Cargill, she proved to everyone she is the one who should be credited for her success.
Sasha Banks won her 35th match on the trot at the WWE Women’s Title defence.
She was accompanied by Kay Lee Ray and Kiera Hogan.
Cargill weathered the first attack from their new coach, a women’s division contestant, and continued to dominate throughout the commercials break. Rayne fought back but her opponent rocked her with a bicycle kick.
The champion successfully countered an attempt, resulting in the fall of their opponent. After the match, Athena, in disguise as a bad guy, attacked her and did noteworthy battle damage while clearing the titleholder from the ring.
Result: Cargill defeated Rayne
Moxley vs Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho took on Jon Moxley in the interim title match.
An electric atmosphere awaited the combatants; with the fans in Minneapolis, excited about witnessing,
the industry giants square off for the top prize in the promotion.
Moxley took on Jericho in a match with an earring ripped, a bloodied forehead and a defiant attitude. Jericho fought back into the match with an armbar applied but both escaped with submission victories.
