Since his ring victory over Jay Lethal at Ring of Honor’s Death Before Dishonor event, AEW/ROH star Samoa Joe, who was off filming a part in Netflix’s TV series “Twisted Metal,” hasn’t been seen much on AEW TV. Lethal, Dutt, and Singh attacked Joe’s injured arm on an episode of AEW‘s June “Dynamite” show, having taken time off to film their parts as well.
With “Twisted Metal” wrapping up filming, Joe is reportedly heading back to AEW soon. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio confirmed as much. In the latest mailbag segment on the show, he said “He’s back.” Meltzer mentioned that Joe was further along in a Netflix series than any other project and ended up taking off for AEW afterwards. Now that he has finished filming, Joe should be back soon.
Meltzer also revealed some interesting information regarding Joe’s deal with AEW/ROH. “I don’t know how many years he has left on his contract,”
Meltzer said in May 2019. “But Joe signed a five-year deal, so it’s most likely this, that his contract expires after five years.
It could be 3 or more depending on the length, but most of these guys were signed for 5-year deals.” Even if he isn’t appearing on Wednesday nights anymore, we will be seeing you soon, Joe.
