The first match for the upcoming b-r-e-a-t-h-t-o-bog had been confirmed.
Claudio Castagnoli, the reigning ROH World Champion, will be defending against Konosuke Takeshita at Battle of The Belts III.
Takeshita will be competing on Sunday, July 23. He has shown promising skill and is currently participating in elimination to become the AEW World Champion. To become the champion, Takeshita will have to maintain his current momentum, including recent matches against Jay Lethal and Jon Moxley.
Battle of the Belts III will be aired on August 6th at 8 pm ET. The special was taped last Friday.
This Friday will feature a live Rampage episode at Van Del Arena. Tickets are still available for their Grand Rapids debut.
AEW and TNT have recently been airing four specials per year. The first Battle of The Belts event aired on January 8th, where Sammy Guevara defeated Dustin Rhodes to become the Interim AEW TNT champion; Ricky Starks retained his FTW championship over Matt Sydal, and Britt Baker retained her AEW Women’s World Champion title over Riho. The second Battle of The Belts special aired on April 16th, with Guevara capturing the AEW TNT championship from Scorpio Sky; Jonathan Gresham retaining the ROH World Championship over Dalton Castle; and current AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa retaining her title against Nyla Rose.
