Last night, there was a big surprise on “AEW Dynamite” that wasn’t what everyone expected. In an emotional promo detailing his long process of recovering from head and shoulder injuries, Adam Cole announced for the first time since August that he would return to the ring after months of uncertainty.
There is no one better suited to understand Cole’s struggles than his significant other, AEW star Britt Baker. Baker had a very short but sweet tweet regarding Cole’s return last night, and today on Twitter she shared insights into Cole’s recovery.
“For months the only time Adam Cole left the house was to go to bran [sic]/physical therapy appointments,” Baker tweeted. “There was a time he wasn’t allowed to fly on planes or do anything more than go for a walk. I’m so damn proud of how hard he worked every single day to get back to you all.”
It has not been announced when Cole will return to AEW for his first match. The AEW star will not be wrestling for the first time since June, when Cole, Kazuchika Okada, and “Hangman” Adam Page challenged Jay White in a four-way match for the IWGP World Heavyweight Title at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door. His lengthy absence was due to a concussion suffered in that bout, his second concussion in a short period of time.
On last night’s “Dynamite”, Baker and AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter defeated Saraya and Toni Storm in a tag team match.
