Omega is also going to tease a possible future character reveal coming soon
In a recent chat on Wrestling Observer Radio, Kenny Omega, professional wrestler and co-executive vice president of All Elite Wrestling, shared some juicy details regarding the soon-to-be-released AEW console title.
Interestingly, Omega confirms AEW will provide cross-platform play in conjunction with various game options.
We have a lot of match types, game modes, there is going to be cross-platform and an online component where you can create your own lobby and things like that and have fun with friends, the ability to defend belts.
Plenty of ways to interact with people in different ways to build a community and interact with people and have fun,” Omega told Wrestling Observer Radio.
It’s not just that you can expect cross-platform play in AEW; however, Omega is also hinting at a possible character announcement in the interview and the promise of revealing more details about where the team is at the game.
How soon will it be? Omega isn’t making any promises but suggests that fans might get to see more of AEW in the upcoming pay-per-view or pay-per-week show.
We’re working on our next presentation. We’re working non-stop, around the clock, on this game. There are a lot of deadlines we’re trying to reach.
We don’t ever want to keep anyone in the dark completely and it’s been quite some time since we’ve had an actual update, not just information, but we want to be able to show people something. I would expect, hopefully, to have something prepared for people, to show, very soon.
It’s certainly an exciting prospect for anyone looking forward to the release of AEW since it seems like the development process is moving along smoothly.
I don’t want to promise at the pay-per-view or the pay-per-view week, but we were hoping to possibly show a little more of where we’re at and progression and reveal possibly a new character. It is coming along.
It’s also great to know that there is a confirmation of cross-platform gameplay and that AEW will provide a variety of match types and game modes.
Presently, AEW is being developed by Yuke’s, who had previously collaborated on WWE SmackDown games and 2K’s WWE games until the year 2019, when they split up. However, in addition to Yuke’s involvement, the game is headed by the former WWF No Mercy director Hideyuki “Geta” Iwashita.
In the end, it’s going to be fascinating to learn more about Yuke’s involvement with AEW. We look for more information on the state of Yuke’s involvement in the game’s progress, and other characters reveal announcements shortly.
AEW has the option of releasing in 2022. However, a specific release date has yet to be determined. For more information on AEW, take the time to go through our previous articles, including one in which we go over the three ex- WWE stars AEW will learn from WWE’s 2021 release.
