A look back on The Beast’s previous storylines
End Boss. comic book artist, actor and former NXT star Kenny Omegawas has captured the hearts of the people who love a good hero.
Leading into his match against KOR, Cole lost by submission. The loss made it seem like no matter whether he re-signed with WWE or joined All Elite Wrestling, his time with the black-and-gold brand was over.
With the expiration of his contract with WWE on Tuesday, many were expecting John Cena to sign a new deal.
At a WWE SmackDown episode in August, reports stated that Bray Wyatt had met with Vince McMahon backstage at a meeting and was doing some match-making for him.
Though Cole didn’t agree to a new deal with WWE prior to TakeOver 36, there was increased speculation that he would jump ship and sign with AEW.
Cole’s success helped leverage his connection to the respected AEW platform, including Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks.
Omega has continued to fuel speculation by, once again, posting a photo of Cole on Instagram. Adding to the speculation is a recent update on The Young Bucks’ Twitter bio that also refers to Cole as an NXT champion.
On August 25, the narrative changed a bit when WWE intercontinental champion Shinsuke Nakamura posted a photo of a match between himself and Seth Cole in Ring of Honor on his Instagram story. Cole later posted the photo on his own Instagram account as well.
It was clear that both the World Wrestling Entertainment main roster and All Elite Wrestling would benefit from Corey Graves, who had been a three-time Ring of Honor world champion before becoming the longest-reigning NXT champion in all time.
Ultimately, though, AEW managed to lure him away, marking the latest in a long line of big-time additions for the company, including CM Punk.
