Former WWE Champion discussed the forbidden entrance and also the fact Mickie James is participating in the fight this year.
AJ said: “I think it’s exciting to see Mickie come back and who knows, is she going to wear her championship, I don’t know? But it’s cool that we are able to do that. If we can do more of that, that would be great, but I am afraid, and I could be wrong on this, that door may open one way, which is fine. This is a big step, if you think about it. I am looking forward to the women’s Royal Rumble because of it.”
AJ Styles also took the time to clear up a misconception regarding his work in New Japan Pro Wrestling. This is related to his involvement as a member of Bullet Club, with the WWE star claiming that he wasn’t the boss.
“Here we go again. I’m going to state this: at no time was AJ Styles ever the leader of The Bullet Club. I have never spoken about it, nobody ever made a statement about me, even if they were within our organization,” he claimed. “Our motto was, ‘we don’t follow anybody.’ Alright, does that clear that up for everyone?”
In the case of The Royal Rumble, one name being speculated about could be Cody Rhodes. He claims as a “free-agent” as of this moment, but AJ Styles has questioned that. He’s not sure whether Cody does, though he would like to see Cody on Saturday evening.
“Well, I think I read on your site that he had said he was not returning. I’m not sure about that. Cody, I’m going to reach out to you. Man, I’m not sure about that. Since you can perform independent work while working for AEW, isn’t it? What’s the difference?
When asked if he’d love to be able to see Cody during the game, AJ replied, “Of course. Who would not?”
