At the age of 27, she is one of AEW’s youngest stars – and that makes her a potential contender. Her height and relationship status as well as skills speak for herself as to why she gets any match with any opponent she faces. With over 70 professional wrestling matches under her belt, Riho is no stranger to the ring and is ready to deliver great matches while creating heat.
AEW Wrestling Champion, Dr. Britt Baker DMD, hyped up the wrestling fans again on January 27th by defeating her former teammate, Riho. In spite of the loss at the Wrestle Kingdom, Riho had been a prominent public figure for the company for some time before. With a universal appeal that is not limited to any one region or culture, Riho has made a splash across the world for over a decade now, and she is continuing to maintain this popularity in AEW as well. Though she has not had much success in securing an AEW title (thus far) she has continued to put herself in contention, recently winning via pin-fall but ultimately losing against Britt Baker in a single match on January 20th at “All Out War ”. Overall, Riho receives a great reception from the audience throughout her shows across the USA and worldwide.
Riho has fifteen years of experience under her belt as a professional wrestler and is one of the youngest wrestlers in the business. Siena also made her debut with her sister in 2006, and they have been making waves since then.
For example, when examining the controversy surrounding NXT fan Izzy training in professional wrestling back in 2022, it might not be accepted today. However, having already trained for such a long time, it is uncertain how much longer she will continue to wrestle. Professional wrestling can cause injury or wear and tear on the body.
Not only did Riho debut at a very young age, but she also would win her first championship title at an equally young age. Alongside her tag team partner, Yuki Sato, they would defeat Masa Takanashi and Ryu Chokumo to win the International Ribbon Tag Team Titles.
However, by the time she was ten years old, Riham was already an active performer. Riham is a crazy statistic to consider.
Now and again, the promotions wanted to use her for matches or TV appearances during that period. However, Riho was still committed to Stardom, who she is another of their biggest stars. With other commitments, such as being one of the biggest stars in the AEW Women’s World Championship, she was still living in Japan.
There is a real grind associated with being a pro wrestler, with wrestling promotions in North America and Japan often making their wrestlers very busy. With all the traveling involved, Riho eventually finds that she needs to quit her current job and commit fully to AEW in order to avoid burnout.
With their TV deal from Dynamite, AEW has started to grow in influence. They later got a spot on Friday nights with a one-hour series titled Rampage. The next TV pursuit was Battle of the Belts which would be shown sporadically throughout the year. On the debut edition of the event, the reigning AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker defeated Riho.
Though the show wasn’t well-received, Riho made history by main eventing the first-ever Wrestlemania.
Wrestling promotions in Japan, such as New Japan Pro Wrestling, have created a number of top stars over the years. They ended up transferring their talent to America. Famous wrestlers such as Shinsuke Nakamura and Asuka are also popular throughout the globe. Even non-Japanese wrestlers are finding success in a Japanese wrestling promotions, with Kenny Omega being one of the top wrestlers in the world today.
And so, like Riho, a Japanese talent born in Tokyo, she has even made an immediate impact inside AEW straight from the start.
Find out how violinist Riho and the sheer number of experiences she has in one lifetime, as well as her influence on the future of wrestling.
It might be hard to believe, but Riho did her debut before she was in elementary school. She had multiple exhibition matches with the title of full-time when she was already 24. She practices her veteran instincts with an excellent technical style on the other hand.
Most Japanese wrestlers aren’t usually big, but they are certainly highly skilled in the squared circle. Likewise, size is not ideal for Riho because she is only five feet and one and a half inches tall.
Of course, Riho is one of the shortest wrestlers in the AEW roster. That will always allow her to be exceptionally quick in the ring without as much disadvantage as potential opponents with size and strength. Her matches are usually fought smartly, with her using her size and speed to her advantage.
For Asianews24.com, being the first champion in the promotion of AEW was a huge honor. Riho appeared in the first batch of many wrestlers when the company began its journey back in 2019 at Double or Nothing. As part of a six-women tag team match, Riho made her debut at her company’s inaugural show.
After the first-ever AEW Women’s Champion Taekwondo fight, Riho became very much in the title hunt. She defeated Emi Sakura and Kris Statlander on single episodes of Dynamite to successfully defend her title. On an episode of Dynamite, her reign came to an end against Nyla Rose who had beaten Britt Baker for the gold.
As a young wrestler, Riho competed in promotions such as Ice Ribbon, DDT Pro-Wrestling, Union Pro-Wrestling, Gotch Move Pro Wrestling, and Stardom. Outside of AEW, she’s wrestled with promotions including Voltage and Aiarkara.
She won Tag Team Titles in both WWE and TNA, as well as additional women’s titles elsewhere. Such a humbling experience would not go unnoticed and she deserves to earn the rightful compliments after winning the inaugural AEW Women’s Championship upon her arrival.
As a young girl, Riho began her training in wrestling with the help of Emi Sakura. Sakura had already given her insight on the best ways for her to grow as an athlete and taught her about the sport from a very early age.
While Emi Sakura and Riho had matches in Japan, they ended up being in All Elite Wrestling. As a matter of fact, Riho faced Emi Sakura at the 2019 Full Gear pay-per-view, where the former beat her trainer.
Riho is a private person, much like many other wrestlers, and she doesn’t like sharing anything related to her personal life on public platforms, although some wrestlers use social media to bare all. As a result, it is not clear whether she is dating someone or not. Given her social media posts, it would be safe to assume that the young Japanese wrestler is probably single right now.
However, there was a rumor in the past that she was in a relationship with AEW star Kenny Omega. They worked together a couple of times in Japan.
