A 27-year-old Warren woman is in jail on child endangerment charges.
The arrest of Amber McElravy was made after deputies arrived at her Scott Street home in Newton Township on Tuesday.
A video that a child is abused was circulated on social media; the authorities immediately knew it was wrong and took action.
Tim Schaffner from the Trumbull County Children Services Agency said, “I understand that Facebook is a good way of knowing what’s going on, but in this case we were able to assure the child’s safety with information given to us by Facebook.”
Trumbull woman accused of child endangerment after video has appeared on social media
A woman was taken away by authorities after an abusive relationship. She is now in foster care and her four children are staying with relatives.
While there isn’t much additional information available in the case, Trumbull County Sheriff deputies seized a video that clearly showed a child being struck with a belt and thrown around by her mother. The incident happened in the 5200 block of Scott Street, who has been reported for abuse violations in the past.
A report stated an alleged young victim was sent to emergency foster care. The report showed the alleged abuse had been going on for over a month.
McElravy was arrested at the Scott Street home Wednesday evening where he was booked into the local jail by 6 p.m. Other children in the household were sent to stay with a paternal grandmother for a time before government officials showed up about 4:44 to secure the victim.
The investigation continues to find out what happened, a report says.
