During Bray Wyatt’s time in WWE, according to Dave Meltzer, he was viewed as someone on the wrong end of the spectrum during interviews backstage.
Wyatt was released after 10 years with the company because of a performance issue that was never made public. According to Meltzer, there were other reasons and he would not specify one. That aside, backstage in WWE there was apparently an argument that Wyatt damaged a lot of the talent he worked with by beating them so decisively. One example given was Seth Rollins who had trouble getting into his feud with Wyatt and according to some, they could not understand what he wanted from their reactions.
With that said, when he was let go by WWE, Wyatt was reportedly the 3rd highest earner in WWE (@RomanReigns and @BrockLesnar). The WWE is always looking for more talent to sell merchandise. According to reports, he allegedly made $3 million from a contract per year.
Not many would deny that Matt Hardy, the former two-time Universal Champion is someone who polarizes fans on both sides of the aisle. This mirrors his comments about how Vince McMahon treated Wyatt, who claimed that Vince treated him “very strange.”
Hardy stated that Vince looked at him like a son when talking about his former tag partner, while Wyatt also shows hot and cold booking throughout his career with WWE.
Since being release, Wyatt has yet to return to the wrestling world. Following his departure, WWE is reportedly going to continue pushing a supernatural theme, which is why Edge was removed from the Judgment Day faction.
