In 2014, Baron Corbin introduced the character “The Lone Wolf” to the WWE NXT program. After being called up to the main roster, he went on to portray various other characters. It’s fair to say that the former WWE United States Champion has adapted to each change from being an authority figure as “Constable” Corbin to being outlandish Happy Corbin after being broke for several weeks. WWE programming will feature elements of the 2019 King of the Ring winner’s past personas.
“I would love to kind of get back to that grittiness of ‘The Lone Wolf’ but mix a little bit of everything in it,” Corbin told Catch Club. “Not be ‘The Lone Wolf.’ It was a little one-dimensional. It didn’t have all the dimensions I think you need to be a John Cena or a Roman Reigns … I’ve given everybody every emotion. Now let’s combine them all, put them into one thing and make some magic.”
Corbin admitted it’s difficult to pick his favorite gimmick, as they all hold a special place in his heart. He said the Lone Wolf character felt most natural and that Constable was a huge transition because he hadn’t yet mastered his promo work, but eventually got comfortable on the mic. In King Corbin he found the first time he truly became a character and his “sad” gimmick that had only supposed to last a couple of weeks went on much longer due to fans buying into it.
