Throughout his illustrious four-decade reign as the visionary behind WWE’s creative landscape, Vince McMahon has been responsible for myriad contract verdicts. Among these, the dismissal of Brad Maddox stands out as a poignant testament to the high-stakes nature of sports entertainment. Maddox, a former WWE star, recently bared his soul about the swift cascade of events that followed his untimely exit from the wrestling titan.
The pivotal moment that triggered Maddox’s departure unfolded on November 24, 2015, during an in-ring promo. The wrestler castigated WWE fans as “cocky pr*cks,” igniting a firestorm of consequence. Upon returning to the backstage realm, Mark Carrano, who was an official at the time, conveyed the stark message from McMahon: the WWE supremo wanted Maddox to exit the stage.
Intriguingly, Maddox unveiled an untold layer of this episode on Wrestling with Rip Rogers. McMahon, the enigmatic Executive Chairman, chose to remain silent following the promo debacle. Maddox recalled, “I think Carrano came to see me and said that Vince had said to get my s**t and get out. I never talked to Vince. I asked if I could go talk to Vince and maybe explain myself or something and Vince didn’t wanna see me. I just left. I never talked to Vince again.”
The incident unfolded mere moments before Maddox’s involvement in a dark match against R-Truth during a Main Event taping. Subsequent to this unforeseen exit from WWE, the 39-year-old grappler has yet to etch his name onto the roster of another major wrestling promotion, paving an uncertain path beyond his WWE tenure.

Unveiling an eyewitness perspective, Dutch Mantell, recognized by his WWE persona Zeb Colter, disclosed a backstage revelation. Seated in close proximity to Vince McMahon during the promo that sealed Maddox’s fate, Mantell shared McMahon’s visceral reaction: “Vince just said, ‘What? You can’t say that.’ And they didn’t like it, so he fired him on the spot. He was fired before he got back from the ring. He assigned an agent to go tell him to get his bag and go home. I never saw him again.”
Maddox, a notable figure for his portrayal as RAW General Manager from 2013 to 2014, had also formed an on-screen tag team with Adam Rose, a fleeting alliance that occurred shortly before his sudden WWE departure.
