Last week, TMZ said that Vince McMahon, the Executive Chairman of WWE, had major back surgery. In another report, the surgery was called “life-altering” because of how important it was. McMahon is taking time off for health reasons, but no one knows how long that will be.
Most of the people who work for WWE didn’t know that Vince McMahon was getting that job done. Since Vince doesn’t go to most Raw and Smackdown shows, many of the wrestlers never get to see him.
McMahon is now in a situation where he edits things for TV while his son-in-law Paul “Triple H” Levesque runs the creative team as WWE’s Chief Content Officer, a job he has had for a year.
The surgery on Vince McMahon was called a “very touchy situation.”
Dave Meltzer gave a report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He said that the situation is tricky because of McMahon’s age.

“Vince McMahon, 78, had very serious spinal surgery this past week. The operation lasted more than four hours. The surgery was largely kept quiet from everyone until days after it happened. Any kind of surgery at that age, especially when it involves the back, is a very touchy situation.”
“He’ll probably be back remotely working very soon but obviously wasn’t heavily involved with the television this past week.”
The federal government is also looking into Vince McMahon, which WWE said in their financial report for the second quarter of 2023.
The investigation is about all of the “hush money payments” that McMahon made in the past, which came to mind more than a year ago and led to his retirement in July 2022. This break from work lasted about a few months.
In the second-quarter financial report for WWE 2023, the company said that “Mr. McMahon has paid approximately $17.4 million to reimburse the Company” for costs that the company had to pay because of his mistakes.
