Devon Larratt has had an amazing military career. After joining the United States Marine Corps at the age of 18, he quickly rose through the ranks and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 2006. Over the next seven years, Devon served in Iraq and Afghanistan and distinguished himself numerous times for his bravery and leadership skills.

Devon’s story is an inspiration to anyone who has ever wanted to achieve anything in life. His accomplishments speak for themselves, but what makes Devon’s story even more special is that he achieved them despite having a disability. Devon is a double amputee, which means that he lost both his legs below the knee in a car accident when he was just 16 years old. Despite this devastating setback, Devon used his unique perspective as a double amputee to help him become one of the most successful military officers of his generation.

Devon Larratt, an American journalist and war correspondent, has had a military career that has spanned over two decades. After graduating from college in 1992, Devon joined the United States Air Force. He served for six years as a military police officer and was deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2003, Devon left the Air Force and became a freelance journalist. He has since covered wars in Somalia, Haiti, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Darfur. Devon’s work has earned him numerous awards including the International Press Institute’s Courage in Journalism Award and the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Trust’s Human Rights Award. In 2010, Devon retired from his journalism career to become a full-time humanitarian aid worker for the charity Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).

Devon Larratt Military Career Education:

Devon Larratt is a retired U.S. Army Sergeant Major who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003 to 2004. After leaving the military, Larratt attended Arizona State University and earned a degree in business administration. He then worked as a financial analyst for a telecommunications company before joining the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in 2014 as an administrative specialist III.

Larratt has been involved with veterans’ affairs since he was a child, serving as president of his high school’s Veterans Club. After leaving the military, he continued to work with veterans by becoming involved in nonprofit organizations such as the Wounded Warrior Project and American Veterans Disabled for Life (AVDL). In 2018, Larratt was named interim executive director of the National Veterans Foundation, which provides support for veteran-owned businesses.

Larratt’s military career highlights include serving as a rifleman and team leader in Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003 to 2004, where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Action Badge. After leaving the military, he attended Arizona State University and earned a degree in business administration. He then worked as a financial analyst for a telecommunications company before joining the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

Devon Larratt Military Career Awards and Honors:

Devon Larratt enlisted in the military in 2002 and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve on May 8, 2006. In 2007, Devon was selected to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point where he graduated with honors in 2011 as a Distinguished Military Graduate.

After graduating from West Point, Devon served his country as an infantry officer in Operation Iraqi Freedom and received numerous awards and commendations including the Bronze Star Medal with combat V, and the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the Iraq Campaign Medal. Devon also served two tours of duty in Afghanistan where he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with an arrowhead device and three Afghanistan Campaign Medals.

After completing his military service, Devon transitioned to civilian life where he worked as a business analyst for a major defense contractor before joining The Boston Consulting Group as a consultant. Devon is currently a partner at BCG and leads the firm’s energy practice.

Devon is an accomplished soldier and entrepreneur who has dedicated his life to serving his country and helping others do the same. We are proud to have him as a part of our team at BCG.

Devon Larratt is a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant and veteran of the Iraq War. A native of Texas, Larratt enlisted in the Army in 2004 and served in multiple combat tours before retiring in 2018.

Larratt’s military career spanned more than over 12 years and included multiple deployments to Iraq, where he distinguished himself as a highly effective soldier and team leader. He received numerous awards and decorations, including the Bronze Star Medal with “V” for valor, the Combat Action Badge, and the Army Commendation Medal with “V” for valor.

In his retirement, Larratt continues to work to support veterans and military families through his work as a motivational speaker and author. He has also been vocal about his opposition to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed military budget cuts, which he fears will have a negative impact on servicemen and women worldwide.
