Introduction

Dwayne Douglas Johnson was born on the 2nd of May 1972. He is also known for his ring name, “The Rock”. Rock is an American actor and businessman who was an ex-professional wrestler. However, he is widely considered one of the most outstanding professional wrestlers. Before pursuing his acting career, the Rock was a profound wrestler with WWE for eight seasons.

He was born in a family of wrestlers. Therefore, it’s not a surprise to find that Johnson has established himself in the game so efficiently and quickly. Rock was fond of sports from a young age. He was involved in numerous sports while a student. He played football at the high school he attended and was also a part of the track and field team and wrestling squad. He was a talented footballer and received an academic scholarship to play defensive tackle at the University of Miami. He was hoping to make his mark in the professional world of football, but an injury ended his career and stopped his football dreams. While he was devastated, he decided not to let the injury dissuade him from pursuing his dream and instead chose to make a wrestling career. His father, who was a professional wrestler, began instructing his son. Then the young man made his WWF debut and became an accomplished wrestler. Dwayne Johnson also became famous for his role in The Mummy Returns. A fantasy-themed adventure movie. Because of his fame, along with his rugged good looks, he began to receive invitations from Hollywood studios. He started his acting career with the film “The Mummy Returns.”

Early life and Childhood

Birth

The actor was born Dwayne Douglas Johnson on the 2nd of May, 1972, in Hayward, California, United States. The father of his son, Rocky Johnson, was an experienced wrestler, while the mother of his, Ata Maivia, was the daughter of wrestlers. His father is of Black Nova Scotian origin, and his mother comes of Samoan descent, which explains his attractive appearance.

High school and early education

Before returning to America, he was in New Zealand for a brief period and went to his primary school, the Richmond Road Primary School. The United States, where he enrolled at the Freedom High School. He was a highly athletic teenager and was involved in various athletic activities. He played football and was an athlete on the track and field and wrestling teams.

College and Higher Education

His favorite sport was football, and he earned an all-inclusive college scholarship at the University of Miami to play defensive tackle. An injury, however, ended the hopes of a professional football career. He graduated in 1995 with an undergraduate General Studies degree in criminology and physiological science. He decided to become a wrestler and began his instruction from his dad.

First WWF Intercontinental Championship – Dwayne Johnson made his WWF debut as Rocky Maivia in 1996 and was awarded his first WWF Intercontinental Championship from Hunter Hearst Helmsley on Monday Night Raw the following year.

Rocky Maivia to Rock – The ring has later changed the name to The Rock and made him a renowned professional wrestler who had several titles to his name. His wrestling skills and rugged looks made him very well-known among women fans. Soon began receiving offers to be featured on both the smaller and larger screen.

Saturday Night Live – After being featured in a music video and hosting a show called ‘Saturday Night Live’ in 2000. He hosted this show with his fellow wrestlers on several occasions.

The Mummy Returns – In the same year, he made his motion-picture debut as the Scorpion King in the first sequence from “The Mummy Returns” in 2001.

The Scorpion King – The Mummy Returns’ success was the reason for its spin-off film “The Scorpion King’ in 2002. Johnson played the character of Mathayus. He was given $5.5 million US dollars to make this film. However, later the movie was proven to be moderately successful.

The Game Plan – He played Joe Kingman, a divorced father, in the sports comedy about a family film “The Game Plan” in 2007. The movie debuted at the top of the pile at the box office. The movie produced $22,950,971 its first weekend despite poor reviews from critics.

Race to Witch Mountain – He was a part-time actor in the science-fiction film Race to Witch Mountain, which was based on the story of “Escape To Witch Mountain” written by Alexander Key. The film was titled No. 1 and was a huge box-office hit.

Fast Five – In 2011, Dwayne Johnson appeared in the fifth movie of The Fast and the Furious film series, named “Fast Five”. His character in the movie was Luke Hobbs, a Diplomatic Security Service agent. The film earned more than $86 million during its first weekend and quickly became one of Johnson’s most notable commercial successes.

Fast & Furious 6 – The actor reprised the role of Luke Hobbs in ‘Fast & Furious 6’, which was the sixth installment of The Fast and the Furious franchise in 2013. He starred alongside Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Gina Carano, and John Ortiz. The film earned more than $780 million across the globe, making it the No. 50 on the world’s all-time list of the top-grossing movies.

Furious 7 – In 2015, he starred in the seventh movie of The Fast and the Furious franchise, ‘Furious 7’. The film also became an instant blockbuster, just like the previous films in the franchise. Critics also praised it for its action scenes.

Central Intelligence – In 2016 Dwayne Johnson was a part of the action-comedy Central Intelligence. The movie was directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. He worked alongside Kevin Hart, Amy Ryan, and Danielle Nicolet.

Ballers – From 2015 until 2019, Dwayne Johnson produced and appeared as a character in his role on the HBO show. The series was called Ballers. The show was named the most-watched comedy on HBO in six years.

Other Movies – In 2017 he returned to his role in the eighth episode of The Fast and the Furious franchise. The same year, he was a part of two other huge movies, specifically, Baywatch and Jumanji. Johnson voiced his character Polynesian divinity Maui for the Disney animated movie Moana. In 2018, he appeared in two action movies, Rampage, and Skyscraper. Johnson was the main character in Jumanji Jumanji: Next Level in 2019.

“The Rock Says,” New York Times Feature (2000) – New York times wrote Dwayne Johnson’s autobiography named The Rock Says in the year 2000. It became the No.1 New york seller. Johnson was called “The most electrifying man in sports entertainment” in the feature writing.

Teen Choice Awards (2001) – He took home in 2001 the Teen Choice Awards in the category “Film-Choice Sleazebag” for the film The Muddy Returns.
