The Las Vegas Raiders have added veteran linebacker Elandon Roberts to their defense, securing him on a one-year, $3 million contract. The deal was confirmed by Roberts’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, and reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

At 30 years old, Roberts brings a wealth of experience and toughness to the Raiders’ linebacking corps. He most recently played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, signing a two-year deal in 2023. While his role shifted in 2024 due to the emergence of rookie Payton Wilson, Roberts still contributed significantly to the Steelers’ defense. He registered 46 combined tackles, five tackles for loss, a sack, and a forced fumble while playing 44% of the team’s defensive snaps.

A sixth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, Roberts made an immediate impact in New England, winning a Super Bowl in the 2018 season. After four years with the Patriots, he spent three seasons with the Miami Dolphins before joining the Steelers. Over his nine-year career, Roberts has been a force in the middle, amassing 54 tackles for loss, 36 quarterback hits, and 14.5 sacks.

Known for his hard-hitting, downhill style of play, Roberts was a crucial part of the Steelers’ run defense. Head coach Mike Tomlin even referred to him as a “tooth-chipper” for his aggressive approach to stopping the run. His leadership and experience will be a valuable addition to the Raiders as they look to bolster their defensive unit for the upcoming season.

Originally from Port Arthur, Texas, Roberts played collegiately at the University of Houston, where he led the FBS with 88 solo tackles and topped the American Athletic Conference with 19 tackles for loss in 2015.

With his addition, the Raiders gain a proven veteran who can contribute both on the field and in the locker room. As the team prepares for the 2025 season, Roberts’ presence could be a key factor in strengthening their defensive front.
