Hasim Rahman Jr.
claims he received a cryptic telephone call from Jake Paul ‘s coach before being offered a short-notice fight against the YouTube star.
Paul,
who has a record of 10-0, will be looking to get back into the winning column against Rahman, who lost his first professional fight in April.
Rahman’s son, Hasim explained that Paul called him and asked if he could fight with him just one month after his professional debut wearing apparel bearing the initials of a YouTuber he doesn’t take for granted. Rahman then became the first fighter to fight with Paul in January 2020.
Joe brought up the fact that Paul’s coach called him and talked about how much weight Joe was currently at, his last fight, what he’d been doing in the gym, how long he’d been sparring, and other questions. The conversation was a little shady because the conversation could be interpreted as just trying to find out guys’ cardio readiness for training.
“I’m thinking they’re about to call me back and get me on a flight to Puerto Rico to help them out for Anderson. An hour later, I get a call saying they want to fight. So all those questions were really trying to line me up to fight me. It was never a sparring situation.”
Paul was recently asked by Dana White and fans to fight Silva. However, after he left the UFC two years ago, Paulo has won three boxing fights. Prior to accepting the offer for $50 million and five years of free training in mixed martial arts – Rahman was asked to give a response by Paul’s team or else the offer would expire.
Jake Paul’s team offered to fight Rohan and Rahman made the same offer with a time limit. Jake said that this was because “pressure” was put on him to make weight, which would result in a fine of 25% of his purse for each pound he weighs over the limit.
