A new report reports that AEW was considering running its first live show at Craven Cottage, but the cost of doing so proved too high, according to the report. According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the cost of running a show at Craven Cottage in London was “gigantic.” The stadium is home to Fulham F.C., the English football team owned by Tony Khan’s father Shahid.
WON reports that the planned All In event at Wembley Stadium, with its 90,000 capacity, was more “cost-effective” for AEW. Compared to Craven Cottage’s 25,000 seated capacity, it is able to accommodate almost four times as many fans. AEW are expecting ticket sales in excess of 60,000 for their second All In on August 27th and this is predicted to be the greatest event in their short history. This impressive achievement has earned praise from the entire pro wrestling community – even those currently associated with WWE.
Booker T commented on his “Hall of Fame” podcast this week that 60,000 spectators is a crowd worthy of WrestleMania or SummerSlam. He was pleased with the progress AEW and its competitors have made in the three months since the highly-anticipated London show was announced, and fans have been thrilled to guess what surprises may be in store. Reports suggest a number of renowned performers could make their way to England for the event.
