The Floyd Mayweather Jr. exhibition match continues this Sunday as the former pound for-pound king challenges MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura from the Rizin promotion in Japan at the Saitama Super Arena.
In August of 2017 when UFC superstar Conor McGregor retired, Floyd Mayweather took his place and only fought exhibition matches including bouts against Tenshin Nasukawa, Logan Paul, and most recently, Don Moore back in May.
Asakura is an 10-year MMA veteran who has competed in various Japanese promotions like RINGS. He won a featherweight and lightweight title under the promotion.

Floyd Mayweather has been undefeated at 50-0. With his height of 5’8″ and weight of 150, he is currently 45 years old but he hasn’t lost yet and I don’t think that ever happens.
The line for Mayweather is much higher than that for Asakura. At 16.67% the odds favor Asakura, whereas at 87.5% the odds favor Mayweather.
Asakura, who is a popular fighter in MMA, has an impressive 16-3 record while being less than three decades older than Mayweather, but no one knows if he is good enough to face such a skilled boxer.
With a shorter fight and limited rounds, Asakura might have a greater chance of winning because the fight is easier. However, it’s a long shot that he can win against the bigger man in just three rounds.
Mayweather is the obvious choice in this prediction, as his skills make him one of the better boxers in the world. It would simply be foolish to bet against Mayweather, who has a 59-rebound knockout percentage for an undefeated career.
For me, this match feels like it’s really a cash grab from both Mayweather and Asakura. It’s not a championship fight – it’s a match between a world-class boxer and a novice. In other words, they’re providing entertainment to the fans.
