Story Lines About Forbidden Door:
On the pre-show to the June 22, 2022 episode of Dynamite, Max Caster was announced as a partner of The Gunn Club. During this show, he supported Austin Gunn, Billy Gunn, and Colten Gunn in a tag match against New Japan Pro-Wrestling Los Angeles Dojo members Alex Coughlin, Kevin Knight, The DKC, and Yuya Uemura. Also announced for the pre-show was that Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland would face El Desperado and Yoshinobu Kanemaru of Suzuki-gun. And on the last Rampage before Forbidden Door is Aaron Solo from The Factory teaming with QT Marshall against Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI of CHAOS.
In February 2021, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) announced plans for a joint pay-per-view event. However, AEW founder Tony Khan and NJPW president Takami Ohbari were set to make the announcement themselves in May 2022 on the monthly Japanese television show Dynamite. Adam Cole pushed through to announce that the two promotions would be holding a joint pay-per-view with WWE‘s United Center in Chicago on June 26th. Pre-sale tickets were made available in May when pre-sale tickets sold out in 40 minutes — more than 11,000 tickets were sold.
