People noticed that Alan “5” Angels, an X-Division wrestler in AEW who recently debuted with the company and was quickly recruited into The Dark Order has now scrubbed all mentions of AEW from his Twitter profile. The 24-year-old first joined the company in April 2020.
He has since popped up on AEW’s Dark show and their Strong Ignition show numerous times, last competing at the NJPW NJPW Strong Openweight Tag Team Championships Tournament. As of June 19, his last match was when he teamed with fellow AEW member Evil Uno in a losing effort against 2016 Aussie Open Champions Aussie Open.
The most recent departure from the AEW roster is that of Angel, who has not wrestled since May and was recruited by Dark Order. The AEW roster also experienced some significant losses, with Stu Grayson leaving for WWE in early May as well. Evil Uno assures fans that “the game isn’t over” yet and claims that Chuck Taylor hasn’t left either. They’ll hopefully have more news soon!
It has been confirmed that Angel is leaving the company and will be a free agent on July 1. He wanted to increase his stock on the independent scene by rejecting an offer for only dates, so he turned down WWE’s proposal.
Orange Cassidy and Trent went on a date with Taylor on this week’s AEW Dynamite
AEW President Tony Khan told TV Insider in February that some wrestlers’ contracts would not be renewed this year. Unlike in WWE, where wrestlers are often outright released with time still on their deals, AEW just waits for wrestlers’ contracts to expire.
