The first match Hathaway played in AEW was against HOOK.
During Dynamite on TBS’ March 22nd episode, Stokely Hathaway went one-on-one with HOOK as part of a storyline centered around The Firm in AEW.
HOOK defeated Hathaway in three minutes in a No-DQ match. Hathaway recounted the match on Talk Is Jericho.
Before the match, Stokely told Taz, HOOK’s father, that he would shoot HOOK and pin him clean. Taz stared at Stokely and then started laughing.
When I told Taz I would shoot HOOK and pin him clean, he looked at me with a death stare, and then he laughed so… Taz would’ve hit the ring, and HOOK would’ve choked me out. Yeah, yeah. In Kansas City, they would have just jumped me.
When Stokely was in WWE, multiple producers asked him if he could change how his eyes looked on television, and Stokely explained that he couldn’t because his eyes get big sometimes.
It was one promo I cut and this was in NXT and it was like the next week, I had like six different producers and agents come up to me and they were like, ‘Hey man, can you do something about your eyes?’ And I was like, ‘What?’ And they were like, ‘Yeah. It’s just, you know, they get a little bit at times’ and I was like, ‘Well, that’s just my eyes. I can’t really do anything unless I get surgery and if you wanna pay for it, sure’ but, yeah. It’s been a blessing and a curse (having ‘crazy eyes’).
As part of this week’s AEW Rampage, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, HOOK, and Isiah Kassidy will face The Firm (Stokely Hathaway, Ethan Page, Big Bill & Lee Moriarty) at the Hardy Compound.
