Hulk Hogan, a WWE Hall of Famer with a storied career that has already been marred by previous controversies, is now confronting fresh allegations that could further impact his reputation. Influencer Essence Jenai has claimed that Hogan dismissed her from her role as an ambassador for his ‘Real American Beer’ brand due to her race. However, a former WWE writer has stepped forward to defend Hogan, asserting that the accusations are unfounded.
Essence Jenai took to social media to allege that she was hired by Hogan to promote his ‘Real American Beer’ brand but was terminated the following day upon Hogan discovering her race. Jenai provided photos and details of her sudden dismissal, asserting that her contract, which was initially set for a week, was cut short. She claimed that after just one day of promotion, she was replaced by white ambassadors. Jenai also shared a text message from Hogan’s team suggesting a possible cancellation of events, a claim she disputes, noting that the events proceeded with new representatives.
In response to Jenai’s allegations, a representative for ‘Real American Beer’ issued a statement refuting the claims. The statement clarified that the brand ended its short-term relationship with a third-party marketing agency, and Hogan was not involved in this decision. The representative emphasized that race was not a factor in the termination of the contract.
“We are deeply troubled by the false rumor circulating on social media that a brand ambassador hired by a third-party marketing agency was terminated by Hulk Hogan for racial reasons. Real American Beer simply ended its short-term relationship with the third-party marketing agency. Hulk Hogan was not involved in that decision, and race was not a factor. We are in communication with the agency to clear up the misunderstanding and incorrect information, and we believe this false statement will be withdrawn.”
Former WWE writer Vince Russo addressed the situation on the Wrestling Outlaws podcast, defending Hogan against the allegations. Russo suggested that Hogan, having faced significant backlash for past remarks, would be particularly sensitive to accusations of racism. He implied that Hogan, known for his intelligence and awareness, would be unlikely to repeat such mistakes.
“We know a couple of years back Hogan had a big problem making some bad comments. Based on that, I just feel he would be super, super sensitive about that happening again. One thing about Hogan is this is not a dumb guy by any stretch of the imagination. And if he made that big mistake that he paid years and years for, man, I think he would really, really think twice before making it again.”
Hogan has since continued his public engagements, including an appearance at the Republican National Convention. Meanwhile, Jenai has claimed she has been blackballed after coming forward with her accusations. The situation remains fluid, and it remains to be seen if additional allegations will surface.
