The parents of three weightlifters have been notified by PWLF that they must send it to Islamabad for training per PSB instructions.
New goals, new Olympic dreams and a new life as a weightlifter—but no weightlifting platform.
However, PSB has promised to provide all kinds of facilities for the three weightlifters who are going to feature in the twin major international events.
Three of the most famous Emirate weightlifters, Nooh Dastgir Butt, Hanzala Dastgir Butt and Haider Ali, are set to participate in upcoming events. All these weightlifters are allowed to train at home. However, the PWLF has been monitoring them and checking how they grow.
The Pakistan weightlifting team has undergone many challenges as six of their greatest athletes are continuing to be subjected to doping investigations.
Each of Pakistan’s weightlifters will be represented in the quadrennial event, but the scandal is reducing their strength. However, these three will also participate in the Islamic Games. When the doping scandal emerged in May, PSB also decided not to work with the PWLF anymore.
However, the Board reversed its stance and backed those weightlifters who will represent Pakistan in these two events.
The Commonwealth Games will be held in Birmingham, England on July 28-August 8 and the Islamic Games will be held in Konya, Turkey from August 9-18th.
