Jeff Hardy recently had a candid conversation with MuscleManMalcolm, reflecting on his AEW journey and revealing his aspirations for the final chapters of his illustrious career. When he first joined AEW in early 2022, the former WWE Champion received a warm welcome from fans, but unfortunately, his momentum was halted in June of the same year when he faced legal troubles, including a felony DUI arrest in Florida. Consequently, AEW suspended him without pay until he could demonstrate sobriety and resolve his legal matters. In mid-April, after pleading “nolo contendere,” he made a triumphant return to AEW and has since maintained a clean slate legally. However, he was temporarily written off TV in June, just before AEW’s tour of Canada.
Before his unfortunate arrest, Jeff and his brother Matt Hardy were on the verge of capturing the AEW World Tag Team Championships. Now, Jeff is determined to work his way back up and create “huge Dynamite moments” to earn an opportunity to challenge for the tag titles alongside Matt Hardy, currently held by FTR in their second reign. But his ambitions don’t end there.
Jeff expressed that this is his last run, the final opportunity for an epic Hardy Boys journey. Deep within his soul, he holds the hope of one more solo world championship title reign, aiming to add another remarkable achievement to his already impressive record as a six-time world champion, earned during his tenure in WWE and Impact Wrestling.
When questioned about retirement, Jeff maintains a philosophical perspective, acknowledging that life is unpredictable, and his career could change in an instant. While he cannot put a definite number on how long he’ll continue wrestling, he envisions himself rocking the ring until he reaches 50, with five more years to go at his current age of 45. His goal is to create numerous memorable moments during this time.
