A 25-year-old Jefferson City man, Grant Lucas, faces 11 felony charges after allegedly pointing a gun at a woman holding a baby on Wednesday.

The charges include three counts of first-degree domestic assault, two counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, four counts of armed criminal action, and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon. Lucas is currently detained without bond at Cole County Jail, with no court date yet scheduled.

According to the probable cause statement, the victim contacted police, reporting that Lucas held a gun to her head. Responding officers arrived at the scene, enabling the victim to escape the residence, and Lucas was apprehended shortly thereafter.

Court documents reveal the victim’s account of Lucas pointing a gun at her while she held a baby, as well as prior incidents in the days before where he allegedly pushed, hit, choked, and threatened her with a firearm. The statement also notes Lucas reportedly threatened her life multiple times, and police observed bruises and marks on her arm and throat.

Lucas allegedly confessed to hitting and choking the victim while she held the baby but denied pointing a gun at her or making death threats, per court records. Later, the victim told police she no longer wished to be seen as a victim and, after receiving a call from Lucas urging her to secure his release, expressed reluctance to see him remain in jail.
