The legendary play-by-play announcer Jim Ross was over the moon to see Mickie James at the Royal Rumble on her terms.
Royal Rumble (2022) took place inside The Dome at America‘s Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Mickie was one of the Knockouts Women’s Champions in Impact Wrestling. She had been announced as the female winner of the Royal Rumble match weeks before the event.
Jim Ross took to his Grilling JR podcast to discuss his perspective of Mickie James’ appearance this year at the Royal Rumble event.
“I decided to tune in to”the Royal Rumble because I’m a wrestling fan and was at home by myself. So I said, “Let me try it out.’
“I am so proud of Mickie. She’s one of my most favorite women I’ve worked with throughout my professional career. She’s extremely passionate about the field and I believe she has plenty of sexual appeal that is never a bad thing.”
James is the twentieth participant in the Women Royal Rumble match. She lasted for 11 mins and forty seconds, evicting Michelle McCool along the way. She was eventually eliminated by Lita. Lita will now challenge Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship at the Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia.
Mickie has been doing quite well in wrestling since her exit from WWE in 2021. Billy Corgan has credited Mickie James for introducing an All-women’s event back to the organization and reviving the connection with NWA and Impact Wrestling.
