Gresham was unable to travel last week because of an injury sustained at the AEW Battle of the Belts tapings.
A video posted to Progress Wrestling‘s official website reveals Gresham apologizing to the company and its fans for the confusion that arose this week after someone at the company mistakenly stated he was booked for Friday.
Gresham said:
Hello, everyone. Unfortunately, due to injury, I cannot make it to London this weekend for the Sunday or Monday events. I have not been cleared to compete.
Athletes must prioritize their well-being, and as a result, Progress won’t play this weekend. However, I wanted to take the opportunity to apologize for not being able to attend.
Hello everyone, I can’t make it because I have a minor injury and the courts won’t let me compete…
He added:
With my apologies to Progress and all their fans, I am unfortunately unable to make it to this weekend. I really wanted to but sometimes you have to prioritize how you’re feeling just because health is important.
According to a report, Dalton Castle appeared to injure himself during his televised match with Zack Gibson. The exact details of the injury are unknown at the moment.
It has not been confirmed if Gresham suffered a concussion after his successful title defense. Despite the lack of details about the injury, there was a moment in the match where he was caught on his head with a gut wrench suplex.
Regrettably, due to injury, Jonathan Gresham is not medically cleared to make the trip to the UK this weekend. Replacements will be named shortly for both #AtlasWeekend events. Our champion WILL be back in action at Chapter 134 on Sunday May 15th. pic.twitter.com/pxGNAIs3YP
