On March 17, 2025, at about 1:00 p.m., the La Marque Police Department went to the 2300 block of Rosalee in La Marque after receiving reports of shooting.
Investigators discovered that a Galveston County JP 3 Constable’s Office Sergeant was attempting to serve an eviction notice when a suspect on a bicycle came at the apartment complex and shot a revolver at both the constable and the landlord. The suspect fired around five bullets before fleeing the area on a bicycle.
La Marque Police officers tracked down the suspect in the 500 block of Bayou Road. When authorities tried to detain him, the guy abandoned his bike and escaped on foot. Officers tracked and apprehended the man, along with the handgun thought to have been used in the crime.
The defendant, William Rudd, 28, of La Marque, faces charges of evading arrest ($2,500 bond), aggravated assault with a deadly weapon ($75,000 bond), and aggravated assault on a peace officer ($75,000 bond).
The La Marque Police Department claimed that no one was injured during the incident.
