Lacey Evans, a name synonymous with charisma and a fierce wrestling persona, officially bid farewell to WWE on August 16 as her contract came to a close. Now, in a candid conversation with Teddy Long and Mac Davis on ‘Road Trip After Hours,’ the former WWE Superstar shared insights into her departure and the unique perspective that drove her decision.
In the interview, Lacey Evans offered a glimpse into the thought process that led to her exit from WWE. She expressed that it wasn’t the demands of the wrestling world that became overwhelming, but rather the realization that it simply wasn’t aligned with her life priorities. Evans, who had a stint with WWE dating back to 2016 and underwent several character transformations during her tenure, revealed that she had different aspirations and priorities compared to many of her colleagues in the industry.
“I lasted seven years in WWE, I invested and made a lot of money. I’m a business owner, I own investment properties, I really sunk a lot of good money into making sure I’m squared away. My priorities, where my priorities in comparison to a lot of professional wrestlers are way different, night and day,” Evans explained. Her decision to step away from the glitz and glamour of professional wrestling was fueled by her desire for a life that extended far beyond the bright lights and red carpets.
Evans, who is known for her no-nonsense attitude, acknowledged that the schedule in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) might better suit her new life direction. She made it clear that her decision to request a release from WWE was not rooted in animosity but rather a desire for a path that resonated more closely with her values and aspirations.

“Absolutely. I’m mean as hell. I’m one mean son of a gun. That was probably my fault, at requesting my release, there are no hard feelings at WWE, it’s great. That lifestyle is for people that, when they hold that title above their head, that’s what makes them feel significant or feel like they’ve accomplished something. Me being able to make my kids’ food or cook my old man, that to me is worth all the weight in gold,” Evans candidly shared.
Lacey Evans’ journey from WWE to her potential new chapter in AEW signifies a bold move driven by a unique set of priorities and values. Her departure raises questions about the often-overlooked personal sacrifices and choices made by professional wrestlers, highlighting the diverse paths and dreams that coexist within the industry. Wrestling fans will undoubtedly follow Lacey Evans’ journey with great interest as she steps into a new phase of her life, one driven by her own set of values and aspirations.
