Last week, firefighters battled over 40 wildfires in the Camdenton region as part of a statewide response to 224 wildfires.

More than 30 Missouri Department of Conservation employees worked with local and state agencies to react to the 42 fires in the Camdenton region, which burnt almost 6,086 acres.

According to MDC, the fire destroyed more than 20 residences, as well as several cars and structures, although there were no reported injuries or deaths.

“We are grateful for everyone’s efforts in fighting these fires,” MDC Fire Program Coordinator Ben Webster stated in a press release. “We greatly appreciate the expertise, hard work, and long hours from our staff, the U.S. Forest Service, the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and especially the many rural fire departments who are such vital partners in these efforts.”

While these flames have been confined and destroyed, the National Weather Service continues to issue Red Flag Warnings for sections of Missouri.
