Bellator’s trip to Hawaii in April will feature two featherweight matches, including the return of Aaron Pico.
Bellator 295, which takes place at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu on April 22, will feature a matchup between Mads Burnell and Justin Gonzales, according to promotional officials.
Aaron Pico’s return:
Also confirmed by MMA Fighting is a 145-pound fight between Aaron Pico, who returns to action for the first time since he suffered a shoulder injury during his doctor’s stoppage TKO loss to Jeremy Kennedy at Bellator 286 in October, and 13-1 fighter Otto Rodrigues. First to report Pico’s return to action was MMA Junkie.
In his last two fights, Burnell suffered back-to-back decision losses to Adam Borics and Pedro Carvalho. Prior to that, he had won seven straight for Bellator and Cage Warriors.
In Bellator 271 in November 2021, Gonzales lost to Pico, a former LFA champion and Dana White’s Contender Series alum. “J-Train” enters the bout as a winner of two straight bouts against Kai Kamaka III and Andrew Fisher.
In addition to the interim bantamweight title fight, Bellator 295 will feature the divisional grand prix finale between Raufeon Stots and Patchy Mix.
