In strength sports, unlike in other athletic events, one athlete can rarely dominate multiple sports. Hunter Henderson is undefeated in her competitive powerlifting career spanning eight sanctioned meets since 2018 and has made top 3 finishes across three weight classes (+67.5 kg., 75 kg., and 82.5 kg.) Of Henderson’s total four world records, she snagged two squats: 295 kilograms and 305 kilograms from the 75- and 82.5-kilogram frame.
On Aug. 29, 2022, Henderson took to her Instagram page to share videos of when she hoists a 250-pound Atlas Stone over a bar and performs a set of 125-pound keg presses for six reps.
Well this is cool! Learning and getting better each week!
Henderson ventured into strongwoman a little over a year ago and she just won a coveted pro card with her win in the 2021 Canadian National Physique Committee’s (NPC) USA Championship in Phoenix, AZ. Her foray into aesthetics was not a transition out of powerlifting as she scored her most recent powerlifting win at the 2022 World Raw Powerlifting Federation (WRPF) FQ Classic 2 on May 1, 2022, in the 82.5-kilogram class.
2022 WRPF FQ Classic 2 | Hunter Henderson, 82.5KG (Raw w/Wraps)
- Squat
- 282.5 kilograms (622.8 pounds)
- 297.5 kilograms (655.9 pounds)
- 305 kilograms (672.4 pounds) — All-Time World Record (raw w/wraps)
- Bench Press
- 147.5 kilograms (325.2 pounds)
- 155 kilograms (341.7 pounds)
157.5 kilograms (347.2 pounds)
- Deadlift
- 240 kilograms (529.1 pounds)
- 252.5 kilograms (556.7 pounds)
- 255 kilograms (562.2 pounds)
- Total — 715 kilograms (1,576.3 pounds)
Henderson’s above lifts in the squat and deadlift are within range of premier strongwoman’s lifts. The weight of the deadlift at Shayna Steel’s 2022 Shaw Classic Women’s Open was 227 kilograms (500.5 pounds), clearly within Henderson’s range assuming that she could pull a conventional deadlift.
Alternatively, most strongman and strongwoman contests allow athletes to pull equipped, which is another boon for Henderson who primarily competes raw or with wraps.
