Former WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James doesn’t mince words when it comes to her thoughts on the current Schism stable in “WWE NXT.” On Sirius XM’s “Busted Open Radio” show, James passionately expressed her take on the group that consists of Joe Gacy, Ava Raine, Jagger Reid, and Rip Fowler.
“It’s a massive turnoff every time the word is said,” James stated, sharing her honest dislike for the name. “And I know it’s not what that word means, but I feel like this is a representation of wrestling and our audience.”
James dove further into her concerns, acknowledging that even though the name “Schism” implies a split, the ambiguity and unfamiliarity around the term might not be resonating well with the majority of fans. “I like the idea of everything that it is, but even when I go, ‘Well, what is Schism?’ Are these guys Schismy?’ I don’t really know.”

Despite her reservations, James doesn’t let her dislike overshadow her appreciation for certain aspects of the stable. “Ava’s involved, and I love Ava so much,” she affirmed, highlighting her positive feelings toward Ava Raine. “Then I’m like, ‘Oh, I don’t want to hate it; I wanna love it.’ And I like the masks and all the things, and the leader, and the whole thing. The package is cool. I hate the name. I hate it so much.”
In the world of wrestling, opinions are as diverse as the characters themselves. And while James might have a “massive turnoff” when it comes to the Schism stable’s name, the WWE Universe is left to weigh in on whether this creative choice will ultimately help or hinder the group’s trajectory in “WWE NXT.”
