In a fortnight, WWE is gearing up for another special installment of their programming with NXT Heatwave 2023. Tonight’s episode of NXT saw the unveiling of some of the upcoming matches.
During an emotionally charged in-ring promo between Ilja Dragunov and Trick Williams, the duo declared their intention to engage in a fierce battle at NXT Heatwave on August 22.
Another match confirmed for the event will feature Noam Dar and Heritage Cup Champion Nathan Frazer. This showdown aims to definitively determine the ‘true’ Heritage Cup champion. Dar maintains that since Frazer didn’t defeat him for the title due to injury, he rightfully holds the Heritage Cup and continues to display it. Tyler Bate briefly acquired a replica of the cup during the recent show, but he returned it to Dar out of regret for winning it.
Additionally, NXT Heatwave will host a significant bout for the NXT Championship. Current titleholder Carmelo Hayes will defend his championship against an opponent yet to be revealed.

On the upcoming episode of NXT, a clash between Dijak and Wes Lee is scheduled to determine who will progress to Heatwave for a title shot against Hayes.
In an interview segment, Tiffany Stratton shared her thoughts on her NXT Women’s Championship and disclosed that she hasn’t settled on an opponent for the championship defense. She even contemplated the possibility of not defending the title against anyone at all.
