WWE CEO Nick Khan is credited with coming up with the current plan for NXT, which is to have main roster stars work with younger talent in NXT to help boost NXT ratings.
The most recent case of this led to a big jump in numbers. Wes Lee was the North American Champion before Dominik Mysterio beat him in the main event of Tuesday’s NXT show. This week’s numbers were the second highest of the year and the second highest since 2021.
Since 2021, when World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins defended his title against Bron Breaker, this was the most people who watched NXT as a whole.
Dave Meltzer said in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there are some people in NXT who want more of this so that it does better than Dynamite in the ratings.
