Upcoming live headliner Minaj stepped down from the live show after Rosenberg hinted that Nicki Minaj’s pop single “Starships” wasn’t “real hip-hop” during a 2012 Hot 97 Summer Time Jam live performance. Rosenberg did not apologize, explaining that his comments were no longer considered an attack on Minaj. He said she was “originally hip-hop… ‘starship’ doesn’t exist anymore”. Minaj is replaced on the bill via Nas and Lauryn Hill.
After nearly 12 months of arguing, Minaj appeared to reconcile her history with Rosenberg on the 97’s Warm Morning Show.
