In contrast, Tszyu was inexperienced; his best win came vs. Terrell Gausha last year, and there was nothing to suggest he could beat him.
But over nine rounds vs. Harrison in Sydney, Tzsyu appeared to be a significantly improved fighter. The 28-year-old showed a keen sense of range, picked off shots while under pressure and impressed with his punch variety. When necessary, Tszyu even countered while coming forward and stepped back.
Though Charlo is a great puncher who knows how to set up his shots, don’t count out Tszyu. He is an excellent puncher who knows how to set up his shots. Argentine boxer Brian Castano tested Charlo twice — winning the first fight — and he has a similar style to Kosta Tszyu, the son of the legendary Kosta Tszyu.
In spite of who wins when they face each other later this year, Charlo-Tszyu will be much more anticipated after Tszyu’s performance this weekend.
Cordina with a broken hand:
In October, a month before the scheduled match, Cordina was forced to withdraw from a bout against Rakhimov (17-0-1, 14 KOs), 28, of Tajikistan, due to a broken hand. There will be no shortage of appetite or motivation for this fight for him.
At Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, where he will face Rakhimov, Cordina (15, 9 KOs), 31, knocked out Kenichi Ogawa to win the belt in June 2022. After surgery on his right hand and the latest injury setback in his career, Cordina’s success will be heavily influenced by his recovery.
A former English boxer, Rakhimov won the vacant belt from Zelfa Barrett in November by stopping him in the ninth round, making him Cordina’s best opponent so far. In his previous title attempt in 2021, Rakhimov also held Joseph “JoJo” Diaz to a draw.
After Canelo, Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada is the best Mexican fighter today. He recently beat future Hall of Famer Roman “Chocolatito” González in an all-action trilogy bout.
According to Mendoza, both fighters’ promoters confirmed that a tentative agreement has been reached ahead of Usyk’s mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois’ 5 p.m. ET deadline for defending his title. The WBA continues to consolidate belts, although Dubois holds the “regular” title.
With a split-decision win in August 2021, Usyk defended his unified championship after defeating Joshua via unanimous decision in September 2021. It was clear in the first round of the fight that the southpaw was on the verge of stopping AJ, one of the most skilled boxers in the world.
