WWE’s 2023 Money in the Bank event is often remembered as the launching pad for Damian Priest’s journey to becoming the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
However, it also left a lasting impression due to a harrowing moment when Logan Paul and Ricochet crashed through a table after a mistimed Spanish Fly. Ricochet later explained that the incident stemmed from a split-second decision he made on instinct.
“In wrestling, you lean on your gut a lot because things don’t always go as planned,” Ricochet said on “Unlikely With Adrian Hernandez.” “When you’re dealing with tables, ladders, and all that chaos, it’s fight or flight. You’ve got half a second to decide.
Out there, I’m trying to entertain the crowd while holding onto Logan Paul, thinking, ‘We’re in this together, bro. You slip, I slip. Doesn’t matter. We’re going.’”
He continued, “Afterward, he caught up with me, and we had a little scuffle—they even caught it on camera. But in that moment, it’s pure instinct. I’m the one falling backward anyway, so I had to take charge of the situation.”
The crash came after LA Knight tipped over a ladder that Paul and Ricochet were perched on, one on each side. The plan was for both to land their lead feet on the top rope simultaneously as they fell. Instead, Ricochet’s foot hit first, throwing off the timing.
Paul’s foot missed the top rope entirely, sliding to the bottom one. As Paul tried to adjust by shifting to the second rope, Ricochet seized the moment, grabbed him, and sent them both crashing through the table below.
