“If there was money in wrestling, then Tony Khan wouldn’t have had to buy Ring of Honor back. It wouldn’t have gone out of business because they had great wrestling.”
Frank noted that people enjoy the superstars themselves on screen, when the show is presented with a flashy look. For example, if someone’s backyard had a grill and tiki torches, make the wrestler like that in the ring, even if it wasn’t actually them wrestling.
“People want to be entertained too. You’ve got to give them a little glitz and glamour. You’ve got to give them a little carny. You’ve got to ‘step right up folks’, and show them shiny stuff and some pyro or whatever.”
Ring of Honor closed its doors and released all wrestlers from their contracts with no money left to fund the company. The wrestlers were given a call to tell them that they are free to work with anyone right away, despite their status as contracted performers. It was originally thought that the company would make its return within a few months while still under the same leadership. Recently, Khan announced he had officially acquired the Ring of Honor which shocked many fans.
