San Jose’s premier soccer venue, PayPal Park, is poised for an exciting transformation. The San Jose Earthquakes have announced plans to expand the stadium’s event offerings by hosting more than a dozen concerts annually, adding a new dimension to the facility’s entertainment lineup.

Located at 1123 Coleman Ave., just minutes from San Jose International Airport, the stadium has long been a hotspot for Major League Soccer fans. Now, with a proposal to amend its existing permits, PayPal Park aims to host up to 15 concerts each year, bringing top-tier musical acts to the heart of Silicon Valley.

“We’re excited to bring new opportunities for outdoor entertainment to the people of San Jose,” said Jared Shawlee, President of the San Jose Earthquakes.

This expansion aligns with San Jose’s broader efforts to enhance its reputation as a world-class entertainment and sports destination. With the Super Bowl, FIFA World Cup matches, and NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournament games all set to take place in the Bay Area in 2026, the city is actively positioning itself as a hub for major events.

San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan voiced his enthusiasm for the project, noting that this move will help showcase the city’s ability to host a diverse range of events. “The San Jose Earthquakes are taking an exciting step forward on the march to 2026,” he said. “All of our incredible facilities, including PayPal Park, will be ready to deliver unforgettable fan experiences for residents and visitors alike.”

Under the new proposal, concerts could take place any day of the week from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., ensuring a flexible schedule for event organizers and concertgoers alike. Land-use consultant Erik Schoennauer emphasized that PayPal Park has already proven itself as a key community destination, having hosted major sporting events and special gatherings for over a decade.

With a seating capacity of 18,000, a canopy roof, and cutting-edge cloud-enabled technology, PayPal Park is well-equipped to become a premier concert venue. Notably, the stadium features the largest outdoor bar in North America, a two-acre fan zone, and high-end field-level suites, making it an attractive location for world-class performances.

“PayPal Park is a world-class facility that is perfectly suited to world-class concerts,” stated the Earthquakes’ proposal. Shawlee added, “We’re thrilled at the prospect of bringing live music to this iconic venue and continuing to elevate San Jose’s entertainment scene.”

With this initiative, PayPal Park is set to redefine live entertainment in the Bay Area, cementing its status as a top-tier venue for both sports and music fans alike.
