A series of individual matches determine the winner of arm wrestling events. Upon clasping the hands together, the referee instructs the contestants to close the thumb, then close the fingers, before giving the “go” signal. When the two athletes cannot maintain a proper grip, straps are used to secure their wrists in place. The winner is whoever makes the other man touch the pad at the end of the table with their hand or wrist.
King of the Table:
King of the Table, a pay-per-view hosted by CoreSports, featured the strength sports star against Aleksandr “Schoolboy” Beziazykov (aka Toproll), who lost all six matches. A free CoreSports streaming service allowed fans to stream the exhibition fight between Hafthor Björnsson and Simon Vallily the same day as King of the Table.
It was clear that Toproll had the upper hand early on in the contest when he swept Wheels 6-0. His skill and experience were evident — Wheels were unable to overcome him. In the final two matches of the series, Schoolboy even gave Wheels a chance to defeat him. None of the six matches lasted more than 15 seconds each.
Among the biggest draws on the card was the rematch between Wheels and Toproll, which was also accompanied by the appearance of Michael Todd, a prolific arm wrestler. During their previous matchup, Schoolboy also defeated Wheels. Now that Wheels has gained more training and competitive experience, he wanted redemption. CoreSports streamed the event on pay-per-view, and the World Armwrestling League sanctioned it.
Wheels Improvement:
In arm wrestling, Toproll is considered by many as the sport’s future, despite being only 21 years old. In the last several months, Wheels has improved his skills in this sport, but he failed to translate that improvement to results at the table on the big day. In an act of good sportsmanship, both men shook hands following the contest.
Michael Todd – who has worked with Wheels at different times leading up to this event – faced Devon “No Limits” Larratt in the main event of the evening, a matchup between right-handers considered one of the biggest in the sport’s history. During the 2018 rematch, Todd defeated Larratt by three victories to two. This time, Larratt defeated Todd, 5-0.
