Shinsuke Nakamura has been a huge name in Japanese professional wrestling and has earned several championships including the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. He started his professional wrestling career in Japan before signing with WWE back in 2016. Nakamura won a lot of big titles while working in Japan, including the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
After arriving in WWE, he started working at the NXT. He had been the face of NXT for a year and won the WWE NXT Championship two different times in that time span. In 2017, he debuted as a main eventer on SmackDown. Even though his role was viewed as big at first, he’s had his share of tough times like winning the Royal Rumble match in 2018 and challenging AJ Styles for the WWE Championship. It’s been a dream match from all angles.
He failed to win the championship and after the defeat, he was demoted to a mid-card role as promised. After that, he was never elevated to the main event status but he has always been treated as a constant mid-card champion.
