Stephanie Vaquer has rapidly risen to prominence in “WWE NXT” since departing from CMLL, establishing herself as one of the standout female talents on the roster and securing multiple championship victories.
Within the past month, she captured the Women’s North American Championship and, more recently, the NXT Women’s Title following her win against Giulia at NXT Roadblock last week. Before her success in WWE, however, Vaquer opened up about the challenges she faced early in her career at CMLL, where she felt unsupported and lacked proper training.
During an interview with “Busted Open Radio,” Vaquer explained, “In CMLL, when you’re new, it’s like, ‘Okay, you’re new—good luck. See you in the ring.’ You’re so nervous. Now, I feel really good because here in WWE, it’s teamwork. I can ask questions, I can get help, and people support me. But in CMLL, nobody helps you.
You’re on your own. No teamwork. If you know wrestling, great—go wrestle. There’s no training. You’d ask, ‘Can you teach me?’ and the answer was no. You couldn’t say anything, couldn’t do anything, couldn’t ask anything. It was scary all the time.
I cried every day during training, every single day. That first year was so hard for me because I was new. I’d cry after every session.”
As she recounted her difficult experiences in CMLL on the broadcast, Vaquer became emotional, shedding tears while expressing her frustration with the company and her deep appreciation for the supportive environment she’s found in WWE.
