The much-anticipated MMA Rules match between Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam 2023 is getting more and more exciting, but we still don’t know what the unique rules are.
Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has shed some light on the situation by saying that even the company doesn’t know what “MMA Rules” means for the match.
WWE doesn’t seem to be keeping things secret or keeping people on the edge of their seats on purpose. Instead, it looks like the company hasn’t decided on the details of the MMA Rules match yet.
Even though there has been a lot of buzz about the match between Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler, who are best friends in real life, on the most recent show of Monday Night Raw, not much has been said about the rules and regulations of the match. This has left fans curious and intrigued.

“Shayna Baszler vs. Ronda Rousey will be an MMA rules match, which I guess is to mean knockout or submission finish and no pins, although that hasn’t been specified. It’s not confirmed whether this is Rousey’s last match in WWE for the time being, but her departure is coming relatively soon since they had to rush the turn angle. We do know the reason nothing was announced is because they hadn’t settled on exactly what MMA rules means.”
Since last month’s Money in the Bank show, the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions have been fighting. Baszler turned on Rousey during a title defense, but fans have been on her side even though WWE wanted her to be the bad guy. Baszler says that Rousey didn’t deserve to be in WWE, and she says that she welcomes the fans’ support because they can see through Rousey’s act. Their next match isn’t likely to be like most others.
Summerslam is happening this Saturday at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, and there will be some great fights.
