WWE‘s Elimination Chamber event that takes place every February is the final hurdle that for the Superstars of SmackDown and Raw must conquer to get to WrestleMania However, in the case of Becky Lynch, this upcoming event is much more important.
While she was Raw‘s Raw female champion over the past three months she’s had gold every single day she’s been a member on the team as of WrestleMania 35 on April of 2019.
The heel flip she made in SummerSlam 2021 has resulted in her becoming a frequent Raw highlight , and has Big Time Becks has been able to give Big Time Becks one of her most formidable opponents to present: Bianca Belair, Sasha Banks, Doudrop and Liv Morgan. Each of them was close to winning the title but failed at the final.
Lita however, presents a completely different challenge Saturday.
It’s well-documented that Lynch was a fan of Lita and modeled the beginning of her career on the pioneering WCW Hall of Famers. There are many similarities that can be observed among the two however Lynch is aware that being overwhelmed by the opportunity to take on one of her heroes from childhood could end up costing her the title if she doesn’t take care.
“Thirteen-year-old me would lose their minds,” Lynch told Bleacher Report. “Even the 30-year-old me could lose their minds. The me who saw Lita start introducing the women’s title at WrestleMania 32 would have lost their minds. The me that am now, the champion who has overcome all these hurdles, and returning stronger than ever before, to have my idol from my childhood try to take a rub off of that and then try to compete with me in the most crucial moment of the year it’s very difficult for me.”
This game is well-known to Lynch. WWE has been boasting throughout the this week that Lynch will be taking on. Lita is the first women’s event ever promoted on a billboard located in Saudi Arabia and that this truly is a match that was several years in the making.
When the bell goes off, Lynch won’t be holding her back. She is planning to stop the comeback tour of Lita before it even gets to begin.
“I’m obliged to either kill my childhood hero, or let her believe she’s got a chance to beat my side,” she said. “I must take down my idol from childhood. This is a terrible situation I’ve been put in by her. Now, I understand the severity of this and the consequences as well as what this means to me as well as in the future, and for Lita and her family. It’s a huge deal that it’s almost unimaginable it’s taking place right today. If you were to tell me in my teenage years in 20 years’ time that I’d be wrestling in this year’s Raw Women’s Championship against Lita I’m pretty sure I’d be lost in thought. My head could explode.”
While Lynch continuing to be at the height of her fame She isn’t amazed that so many recognizable names are emerging from the woodwork to try to steal the spotlight from her.
On the same show, Lita was able to challenge Lynch to an Raw Women’s Championship match, The Man was also confronted by back Ronda Rousey. Of course, Rousey’s match prior to going on a break ended in defeat to Lynch in the Triple Threat at WrestleMania 35 which means there’s obviously not enough work to be done there.
In the end, Rousey chose to cash in on her guaranteed title chance after her win over the female Royal Rumble on SmackDown champion Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 38. By doing this she only put off the inevitable.
“Can anyone blame the people who did it? I’m a magician in the present!” Lynch stated in reference to Lita as well as Rousey. “I’m only magic. Everything, more amazing than ever before. Matches are better than ever. Every time I speak better than ever talking about Liv Morgan and Doudrop and becoming famous. I’m not blaming anyone for wanting to collaborate with me.
“I do not think I’m to blame Ronda who isn’t willing to collaborate with me, as I’m more successful than ever before and I’m coming in,” she continued. “Nobody knows how difficult Ronda does better than me. Being a mother is difficult. The journey of a newborn is extremely challenging. Wrestling can be very difficult. Combining all of these things is a major challenge. I appear to make it seem easy, but it’s really not simple.”
Based on her statements it’s clear that Lynch admires Rousey but doesn’t view Rousey as a danger to her title. She’s defeated her before and is likely to do it again should she decide to revive the rivalry between her and Lynch and that will surely be sooner rather than later.
