The match will take place on the upcoming episode of AEW Dynamite. FTR will defend both the AAA Tag Team Titles and the ROH Tag Team Titles. Despite AAA’s championships being at stake, the AEW President has the opportunity to book the winner. This match is his to decide.
FTR heads into it with both sets after beating The Briscoes to win the ROH Tag Team Titles at Supercard Of Honor. The TripleMania has been confirmed by The Young Bucks. If he is well, they will face Rey Fenix and El Hijo del Vikingo.
FTR last defended their AAA Tag Team Championships at a Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide event in Merida Yucatan, Mexico where they defeated Dragon Lee and Dralistico.
FTR has been pushing for a rematch with The Young Bucks ever since their encounter at Full Gear 2020. Matt and Nick Jackson won the AEW Tag Team Titles that night. The two teams haven’t met since then, despite their exchanging words. Tony Khan has now booked the match.
Cash Wheeler had expressed previously to Barstool Rasslin that they expected more matches with The Young Bucks. He said that they would be clashing in the ring at some point.
If you ask me though, no matter how much we wanted the immediate rematch because we don’t like losing, especially not to those guys. It’s inevitable that it’s going to happen.
The FTR star said:
We’ve learned, we waited a long time to have that first match. We know how to be patient when it comes to this.
We know that when you boil it all down and you take it all away and you strip it down to just who is the better team, they know that we are and they hate that. They’re going to avoid that at all costs.
Wheeler claimed:
They don’t want to be seen even remotely in the same area as us because it’s going to expose them.
