A fundraising event for former WWE stars Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly was recently held in San Antonio, TX. CM Punk and Dax Harwood won their match with Max Caster and The Gunn Club, before announcing a big match for their next show.
When CM Punk said New Japan Pro Wrestling is in the house tonight, he told them to send the best challenge they got. That’s when Hiroshi Tanahashi appeared from behind and made it clear that he was the one who wanted Punk at the pay-per-view.

In a recent scrum, CM Punk named Hiroshi Tanahashi as one of his top dream opponents for the AEW show based later this month.
“I think [Kazuchika] Okada, [Hiroshi] Tanahashi, [Will] Ospreay, guys like that I’m looking forward to stepping into the ring with,” Punk said. “AEW talent — I always think number one with a bullet is going to be Bryan Danielson …”
In less than 40 minutes, all the tickets for AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door went on sale with 11.5K sold in pre-sale, and the remaining tickets that were for personal sale were completely exhausted the next day.
On Sunday, June 26, AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door will air at the United Center in Chicago, IL.
