It’s possible the decision to move Money in the Bank from a 65,000-seater stadium to a 17,000-seater arena could result in creatively unorthodox decisions.
Want To Know More About: Money in the Bank
Fans on social media have pointed out how WWE removed all of the top superstars from their poster, although they still advertised the event. The updated poster had Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey, and Charlotte Flair removed, as well as Becky Lynch and Bobby Lashley.
Updated posters now feature The Miz, Cody Rhodes, and The Street Profits among other wrestlers while the old one only listed Roman Reigns.
An earlier report from “The Wrestling Observer” suggested that Reigns will defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Title against Riddle at the MITB event, before moving on to Randy Orton at “SummerSlam”, and Drew McIntyre at the “Clash at the Castle” event. WWE is expected to do a major marketing push for these events as they historically have done for stadium shows.
It should be noted, however, that online promotional material isn’t always an accurate indicator of WWE’s creative plans. Therefore, the rumored Reigns vs. Riddle match at MITB can’t be ruled out yet. From a creative standpoint, the seeds for the match have been sown over the past few weeks, with The Bloodline brutally attacking Riddle on last week’s SmackDown, and Riddle’s subsequent promo on RAW where he referred to Reigns as “a tribal piece of trash.”
Although WWE didn’t provide a reason for the venue change, they likely made the move due to slow ticket sales. WWE announced that MITB ticket holders who purchased their tickets at Allegiant Stadium will have the first crack at purchasing tickets for the relocated event in the MGM Grand Garden.
