The mood backstage was a bit down this evening at the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
It has been confirmed through several sources within the company that there was discontent with the continual changes that were made over the last week concerning Rumble matches. It seems that the constant changes were the reason it was found that the level of quality in the Rumble matches has decreased compared to previous years.
There were 20 modifications made throughout the week for the Men’s Rumble game. Some spots were changed and then discarded. Also, there were changes made to eliminations, the order of entrances, and modifications to how certain performers were interacted with at various points of the event. The worst part about this particular Men’s Rumble match is that Kofi Kingston’s daredevil appearance was not properly timed, and he was exiled earlier than supposed and this forced them to pull spots designed for Big E and Kofi Kingston.
There were numerous changes introduced on this year’s Women’s Rumble match and that caused people to be annoyed throughout the day as it was a lot of moving elements to keep track of. The match was described as a “confusing hodgepodge of things” that some individuals needed to keep track of out of their minds when an idea was discarded.
It was reported was noted that Vince McMahon was deeply involved in all aspects of the pay-per-view, and his morale was extremely low.
“We were all caught up in an up-and-down. When you had your roles and spots figured out, everything changed and we were back at square one. The situation changed over and over and again. It wasn’t an easy evening even before we even hit the rings.”
